So I've been illustrating my life. These paintings are less literal...but my family did have a lot of dinners at the parkway plaza mall food court and there's something I really like about family scenes in specific/non traditional places. With these I was just trying to capture a certain quality to some of the memories I have. This is the start to my 90's mall series. I want to explore further, really pushing the 90's inspired palette. I've been looking at pattern in the clothes, pattern/material in surfaces for 80s 90s mall department store designs, and the brilliant magenta/purple/turquoise/blue palettes from movies like Pocahontas/Goofy Movie/Little Mermaid/Aladdin. I plan on doing more images exploring some of the stuff in my head and seeing how I can caricature this time, and my perception of this time...when everything was simple and magical..and I was new at life.

Love the last one! I hopped on different colored tiles too. Every trip to the grocery store was a harrowing attempt to avoid the lava.
